Exciting Wedding Flowers
A huge part of your wedding budget is going to flowers and it is also a huge opportunity for you to express yourself and bring life and color to your venues. So with that being said, it is an opportunity not to be wasted! We have talked about wedding flowers before in our Wedding Insider Series. In that article we talked with the incredibly talented Myra Perez of My Violet to learn the key steps of planning and for some expert tips on creating your wedding floral concept. In this piece we are taking you one step further and exploring some of the more daring options available to you. These ideas can help you transform a venue by creating a lot of drama or just putting your personal spin on a space.
Traditional wedding flowers are a thing of the past. For a time it was all about white flowers, white table clothes, white everything but people are embracing their weddings as an opportunity to be bold. One of the ways we love people doing this are with floral installations. A space can be uplifted, improved or transformed with a sculptural floral focus. Kim and Kanye for example did the flower wall which was heavily replicated for a while after. We see now couple are option for more organic ides such a focal points in a reception room with cascading florals, altar like structures for the couple to take their vows in front of or archways dripping with heavenly floral embellishments.
There is also the idea of a hanging arrangement. Often we see this over the tables in the reception and this is a really unique and photogenic idea. It does mean you may want to keep your table design a bit sleeker as there may be no need for flowers on the table too. Also note this may require an earlier start time for your florist so be sure to check with the venue when they can arrive.
There are smaller and more budget friendly ways to have exciting florals in your wedding. A beautiful example of this is fresh flowers on your wedding cake. Large blooms are really impactful and modernize the traditional marzipan mountain.
Brides can also take this approach and wear fresh flowers in their hair. Flower crowns are not for everyone so perhaps you work them into your updo so they add drama to your look at the back as you walk down the aisle.
We also love the varied use of different flowers in bouquets happening at the moment. Brides and their florists are pushing traditions in so many ways. Native flowers with greenery and foliage is a big trend. Other unusual flowers being used include Smoke brush, Lily Pods and Frangipanis.
